Good day
My name is Alvera Visser from Potchefstroom and I am currently doing research on the implications of crime on tourism development in South Africa.

I would just like to know if you think South Africa is as bad as everybody makes it out to be regarding the crime situation?

Answer
Crime is out of control in the country. I met with the South African Police Services when I was in the country. Things were bad then. They have gotten worse. The country needs lots of help with law enforcement.

I have friends who were born there and they are leaving the country due to the crime and poor employment.

Tourism could be great if the country could establish a safe environment for the people. With the poor educational system and low currency, the future is not good....
